Another Job for Evans ?
A week wouldn't go by without Steve Evans being linked with another post somewhere in the country, the latest is Peterborough United....
Almost immediately someone gets the chop in League 1 or League 2, our esteemed manager is nearly always at the top of the bookies list to take over.
Having sacked Grant McCann at the weekend following a winless run of seven games, the bookies all but made Steve Evans the new manager in the Posh hotseat.
This raised concerns this way, as Evans is known to live further down the A1 to Peterborough than he does to Mansfield for example.
But is this just another case of a lot about nothing, just as it was when Swindon came calling in May last year, and then we were led to believe one of Evan's best mates in football, chairman Lee Power would be able to swing things his way, of course he didn't and Evans stayed put.
The speculation does get tiresome, but then again we have to accept it comes with having such a high profile manager for the size of our club, this guy wins promotions, whatever people think of him.
We are on course for one ourselves this season, so why wouldn't he top peoples lists?
That said, Evans could do a lot more to dampen the hysteria around such news, why doesn't he come out and say 'I'm happy with the project here, thankyou, let's move on'.
It's part of the show of course, that he doesn't. For the latest posh rumours Evans commented that he would 'Only leave for anther role, if it was 100% right', well wouldn't we all!
The recent rumour that did have some credit was the Scotland national job, Evans himself instigated that one, when he said he would love to manage his homeland one day, unfortunately for him the common sense department in the SFA plumped for Alex Mcleish, who we remember fondly for his efforts in guiding NOTTS Forest downwards.
Until Evans decides to follow ones of these favourite tags, and jumps ship, Mansfield Town supporters will have to live with the constant speculation.
