Everton Join Stags Group

Everton Join Stags Group

The final touch has been made to the check-a-trade group stages, and Everton Under 23's will join the Stags, Lincoln City and Notts County in Group G.

In what is hardly a group of death, the final draw for the throwing in the Premier League Under 23 teams that wanted to enter, was made earlier today and Everton were granted a match with the Stags, with the game to be played on Tuesday 7th November at the One Call.

All the 'academy' teams have to play away, so the Stags will also play our old reserve team (ie Lincoln City) at home on Tuesday 29th August.

The away fixture at Meadow Lane against Notts County will be on Tuesday 3rd October, just days after the league meeting at the One Call, between the two rivals.

There remains little interest in the competition, despite the tweaking of the academy teams being extended and also having to play their games away.

What little interest was raised when at least supporters of lower league teams, had a decent ground to go and visit, imagine a trip to Goodison Park for example, we might have even been interested in that.

It will be interesting to see the pay on the gate prices for the two games at the One Call, given the club have priced the League Cup game with Rochdale at £20 for an adult ticket.

Anything over £5 for the Check-a-Trade games and we'll be staying at home.
