Stags Fans Charged for Football Violence

Stags Fans Charged for Football Violence

The fallout from the local derby with Notts County back in January continues to dominate the Mansfield area, with four more supporters now issued with banning orders.

Two men and two teenage boys were this week issued with the bans, in relation to no less than 14 smoke canisters and flares being thrown onto the Meadow Lane pitch, as Notts County and Mansfield Town did battle in a 0-0 draw.

Despite the earlier kick off that day, violence erupted inside the Major Oak pub in Nottingham, and it led to eight arrests and one man being handed a jail sentence, with the remainder being issued banning orders from football grounds around the country.

Despite the game being a drab affair, once both supporters were let out at the same time at the final whistle, it led to confrontation outside the 'Kop End', and we at Vital Mansfield saw two brawls that had to be sorted by the police.

This then spilled over to the Major Oak public house and also outside of the train station, which was also the scene of a disturbance.

Now, Nottinghamshire Police continue in their pursuit of those responsible, with the majority of the arrests, coming from the Mansfield area.
