Whiteman In Team Of The Week (2/1/17)

Whiteman In Team Of The Week (2/1/17)

Mansfield Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week's action.

The performance by Ben Whiteman in the two nil victory over Leyton Orient at the weekend at Field Mill was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we'll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Whiteman was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice - the FL blurb read.

'Whiteman scored one and made the other as Mansfield continued their impressive form in Sky Bet League Two. The midfielder lashed home a fine effort when a clearance fell into his path, before his teasing low cross was turned in by Danny Rose just moments later.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Whiteman for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Scott Brown (Cheltenham Town), Haydn Hollis (Notts County), Jordan Moore-Taylor (Exeter City), Angus MacDonald (Barnsley), Jason McCarthy (Walsall), Jake Forster-Caskey (Charlton Athletic), Ben Whiteman (Mansfield Town), Chuks Aneke (MK Dons), Isaac Vassell (Luton Town), Keshi Anderson (Northampton Town), John Marquis (Doncaster Rovers).

Manager - Graham Westley (Newport County).
